St. Valentine’s Day
The worldwide holiday, Saint Valentine’s day falls on the 14th of February. The holiday is coming up very soon.
Have you ever asked: “what is St. Valentine’s Day?’ Some people say that Valentines Day originated in an ancient Roman festival ‘Lupercalia’. So nobody can doubt that the holiday is a very old tradition. The Valentine’s Day we celebrate today can be traced back to the 3rd century, when the emperor Claudius II martyred a priest — Valentine. According to the legend, the priest secretly sent a letter to his jailer’s daughter. As the centuries went by, the holiday developed into an international event.
Valentine’s Day is now a holiday for people who are attracted to each other. In a great number of stores and shops you can find pink and red hearts, as well as other special decorations, including cards for the day which can be sent to people you would like to congratulate, anonymously.
